Selinum

Selinum tenuifolium produces finely divided, delicate foliage and tall, airy umbels of small creamy-white flowers that float gracefully above the plant during summer. Its elegant habit adds movement and natural structure to perennial borders and wildlife gardens. This hardy perennial is highly attractive to bees, hoverflies, and many other beneficial pollinating insects.

Watering and Care

Selinum tenuifolium prefers consistently fresh to slightly moist soil. During hot, dry periods it benefits from regular watering, especially in free-draining soils. The soil should not dry out completely but should remain well drained.

Maintenance

Remove faded flower stems if desired and cut back dead growth in early spring. This long-lived perennial generally requires little maintenance once established.

Location

Grow in full sun or partial shade. Its finely divided foliage and airy flower heads bring texture and movement to perennial borders, meadow gardens, and naturalistic plantings.

Tip

Combine with ornamental grasses to create a soft, flowing planting scheme that looks attractive throughout the growing season.

Selinum tenuifolium (wallichianum) enchants with delicate white umbels that enhance flower beds, borders, and natural-style gardens in summer. Especially decorative in natural plantings or as a solitary specimen.

The blooms attract bees and butterflies, providing fine, lively accents.
