It’s hardy and long-flowering, thriving in full sun and average soil, while attracting pollinator-friendly bees and butterflies. A versatile addition to sunny plantings, it fills the garden with color from midsummer to autumn, adding vitality and structure to any space.

Care and Watering

Helenium 'Mardi Gras'® thrives in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. Water deeply during dry spells and mulch to retain moisture; avoid soggy roots. Keep soil evenly moist for best blooms.

Maintenance

Deadhead faded flowers to extend bloom, trim back after frost, and divide every 2–3 years to maintain vigor. A light spring feeding supports healthy growth.

Location and Tips

Plant in a sunny bed with good air circulation, spaced 12–18 in apart. In hot climates, provide afternoon shade and mulch; tip: pinch early to encourage bushier development and more flowers.

Helenium 'Mardi Gras'® sneezeweed offers a spectacular blend of orange, yellow, and red that brightens borders and prairie plantings. The rich flower head forms a color spectacle and adds depth to summer planting. Because of its nectar-rich flowers, it is a favorite foraging spot for butterflies and bees, ideal for wildlife-friendly gardens. Also as a cut flower, 'Mardi Gras'® brings warmth and texture to bouquets and floral arrangements.
