Water

Water deeply in spring and summer, keeping the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged; reduce watering in autumn and winter. A mulch layer helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Maintenance

Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and remove dead wood; avoid heavy pruning as it flowers on old wood. Fertilise once in spring with a balanced, slow-release formula.

Location

Plant in full sun to partial shade with well-drained, fertile soil; ensure space for arching branches and good air circulation.

Tips

Supports are rarely needed; protect from harsh winter winds; propagate by layering or cuttings in spring.
