Grown in sun and good air flow, it becomes a sturdy, productive tree that supports a steady reliable harvest season after season.
Care and watering
Prunus avium 'Biggareau Van' needs full sun and well-drained soil. Water deeply in dry spells, mulching to conserve moisture and reduce weeds. Prune lightly after harvest to shape and remove dead wood, then again in late winter if needed.
Maintenance
Feed in early spring with a balanced fertilizer, and monitor for aphids and caterpillars. Keep the area around the trunk weed-free and inspect for borers. Stake if the tree is young to support growth.

Plant in a sheltered, sunny spot with good air circulation; avoid low frost pockets. Tips: mulch, protect blossoms from late frosts, and harvest ripe cherries when deep red for best flavor.
