Watering
Keep soil evenly moist, not soggy. Water deeply during dry spells, especially in the first year, and reduce watering in winter dormancy.
Maintenance
Remove dead or diseased shoots in late winter; mulch lightly to retain moisture; inspect for pests and symptoms of disease regularly.
Position
Plant in a sunny to partial shade spot with fertile, well-drained soil and ample room for a wide crown and lateral roots.
Tips
Use organic mulch, avoid waterlogging, prune lightly to maintain shape after flowering, and protect from strong winds.
