Large-flowered trillium

Trillium grandiflorum is considered one of the finest spring-flowering woodland perennials. Large pure white flowers appear above a whorl of three distinctive leaves and gradually fade to soft pink as they mature. This slow-growing hardy perennial reveals its natural beauty beneath trees and shrubs or in humus-rich shaded borders, bringing elegant spring colour year after year.

Watering and Care

Trillium grandiflorum thrives in humus-rich, consistently moist, well-drained soil. The soil should never dry out completely, as this can severely stress the plant. A leaf mulch helps maintain natural woodland moisture conditions.

Maintenance

This long-lived woodland perennial requires very little maintenance. Remove old foliage after dormancy in summer or early autumn.

Location

Best grown in partial to full shade under trees or shrubs in rich woodland soil.
