Wingstem

Verbesina alternifolia develops tall, branched stems with bright yellow flowers that resemble small sunflowers. The flowering period extends from late summer into autumn, bringing long-lasting colour to naturalistic plantings. With its open growth habit and decorative alternate leaves, this hardy perennial adds height to the garden and attracts numerous pollinators.

Watering and Care

Verbesina alternifolia performs best in well-drained soil with regular watering during extended dry spells. Once established, it becomes more resilient but shows the strongest growth when moisture levels remain reasonably consistent.

Maintenance

Remove spent flowers regularly to keep the plant attractive and encourage a longer flowering season. Old stems can be cut back in early spring before new growth appears.

Location

A sunny position encourages abundant flowering and sturdy growth. Rich garden soil with good drainage provides ideal conditions.
