Ironweed 'Crinita'

Vernonia crinita impresses with intensely violet-purple flower heads that appear on strong, upright stems in late summer and autumn. The dark green foliage creates an attractive background for the vibrant flowers and gives the plant a powerful appearance. Bees, butterflies, and other insects particularly appreciate the nectar-rich blooms.

Watering and Care

Vernonia crinita performs best in well-drained soil with regular watering during extended dry spells. Once established, it becomes more resilient but shows the strongest growth when moisture levels remain reasonably consistent.

Maintenance

Remove spent flowers regularly to keep the plant attractive and encourage a longer flowering season. Old stems can be cut back in early spring before new growth appears.

Location

A sunny position encourages abundant flowering and sturdy growth. Rich garden soil with good drainage provides ideal conditions.
