Veronica austriaca 'Royal Blue' forms dense cushions of fresh green foliage above which intensely royal blue flower spikes appear in spring and early summer. The compact perennial is ideal for sunny borders, rock gardens, and the front of flower beds. Its nectar-rich flowers attract many bees and butterflies while adding vibrant colour accents.
Watering and Care
Veronica austriaca 'Royal Blue' performs best in well-drained garden soil that retains some moisture without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, regular watering helps the plant remain healthy and encourages strong flowering. Once established, it becomes more resilient, but consistent care will always result in the most attractive growth.
Maintenance
Remove faded flowers and damaged foliage on a regular basis to keep the plant looking tidy. Cutting back old stems in spring encourages fresh new growth and helps maintain a neat habit.
Location
A position in full sun or light partial shade is ideal. Rich, loose soil with good drainage allows the plant to develop fully and produce abundant blooms.
