Longleaf speedwell

Veronica longifolia develops elegant upright flower spikes in a strong blue-violet shade that enrich the summer garden for many weeks. The lance-shaped foliage creates a beautiful contrast with the slender flower stems and gives the plant a natural appearance. This hardy perennial is popular with bees and butterflies and fits perfectly into both traditional and naturalistic plantings.

Watering and Care

Veronica longifolia performs best in well-drained garden soil that retains some moisture without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, regular watering helps the plant remain healthy and encourages strong flowering. Once established, it becomes more resilient, but consistent care will always result in the most attractive growth.

Maintenance

Remove faded flowers and damaged foliage on a regular basis to keep the plant looking tidy. Cutting back old stems in spring encourages fresh new growth and helps maintain a neat habit.

Location

A position in full sun or light partial shade is ideal. Rich, loose soil with good drainage allows the plant to develop fully and produce abundant blooms.
