Spike speedwell 'First Match'

With its intensely pink flowers, Veronica spicata 'First Match' creates striking accents in the summer garden. The short, dense flower spikes appear above dark green foliage and give the plant a compact, well-kept appearance. This hardy variety is suitable for borders, flower beds, and containers and attracts numerous bees and butterflies.

Watering and Care

Veronica spicata 'First Match' performs best in well-drained garden soil that retains some moisture without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, regular watering helps the plant remain healthy and encourages strong flowering. Once established, it becomes more resilient, but consistent care will always result in the most attractive growth.

Maintenance

Remove faded flowers and damaged foliage on a regular basis to keep the plant looking tidy. Cutting back old stems in spring encourages fresh new growth and helps maintain a neat habit.

Location

A position in full sun or light partial shade is ideal. Rich, loose soil with good drainage allows the plant to develop fully and produce abundant blooms.
