Spike speedwell 'Royal Candles'

Veronica spicata 'Royal Candles' ('Glory') impresses with deep blue-violet flower spikes that stand upright above the compact foliage throughout summer. The uniform growth creates clear structures in the border and makes this variety highly versatile. The numerous flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies while adding intense colour to sunny plantings.

Watering and Care

Veronica spicata 'Royal Candles' ('Glory') performs best in well-drained garden soil that retains some moisture without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, regular watering helps the plant remain healthy and encourages strong flowering. Once established, it becomes more resilient, but consistent care will always result in the most attractive growth.

Maintenance

Remove faded flowers and damaged foliage on a regular basis to keep the plant looking tidy. Cutting back old stems in spring encourages fresh new growth and helps maintain a neat habit.

Location

A position in full sun or light partial shade is ideal. Rich, loose soil with good drainage allows the plant to develop fully and produce abundant blooms.
