Yew

Taxus baccata 100-125 cm, kluit: a robust yew with a compact, upright habit and glossy dark-green needles that give year-round presence. Supplied as a healthy rootball, carefully dug to preserve fine roots and ensure a strong start after planting. Hardy, slow-growing and reliable, this specimen in size 100-125 cm is selected for quality and uniformity.

Watering and care

Water deeply during dry spells, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Yew dislikes waterlogged soil; ensure good drainage. Mulch to conserve moisture and regulate temperature. Prune lightly after the first few years to maintain shape and remove damaged growth.

Maintenance

Remove dead or diseased shoots promptly. Clean up fallen litter. Apply a slow-release balanced fertilizer in spring if growth seems weak.

Location and placement

Plant in a sheltered spot with full sun to partial shade. Prefers well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Avoid perched water and strong winds.

Tips

Wear gloves when trimming; yew is toxic if ingested and needles can irritate skin. Check for pests like scale and treat early. For hedges, trim in late winter to early spring.
