Grows best in sunny, well-drained soil, reaching several feet with a bold vertical presence. The foliage pattern stays vivid year-round, adding texture and contrast to any green space.
A versatile focal plant for borders and beds, it creates structure and movement in the landscape, with a natural, wave-like rhythm in breeze and light.
Watering
Keep Miscanthus sinensis ‘Zebrinus’ evenly moist during the first growing season, water deeply and regularly, then reduce. Avoid waterlogging in winter.
Maintenance
Cut back dead foliage to ground level in early spring. Divide plants every 2–3 years to maintain vigor and tidy clumps.
Location
Plant in full sun to light shade on well‑drained soil. Space plants 60–90 cm apart; they tolerate clay but dislike soggy ground.
Tips
Mulch in spring to conserve moisture, fertilise lightly in early spring with a balanced feed, and remove spent plumes for a neat display.
